How I got $15000 business transaction within 365 days by working inside a dark room?
The story of how an apps I built within 12 months got 500+ sales, does a business of around 15000+ dollars and generated a full-time salary and made a great presence in the Envato Market.
A Story of Pharid’s Products
Rewind back to May 2016 and I was at grade 9. My life was just like a story with a many sad events. At that time everyone hates me even they were kept themselves away from my soul. I was unsuccessful person because my partnership company was crumbled due to my partners’ unlawful and irresponsible attitude towards the business activities and at that time due to my age, I was forced to keep myself down in every business decision. My father was offered me to work on his business but due to my computer programming intention, I rejected my father’s proposal. And my app’s development profession started with zero support from my family and relatives. After that, inside the dark room with my brother’s support, I started to work without money on my dream project, ABC Mobile Security which was the first product of me for the market place called Envato. I spend total 9 months to develop it from the sketch. The development period was the most painful moment that I ever experienced in my programming life. But The success of Abc Mobile Security fulfilled my all the desires and expectation as I say the invention gave me a lots of money to buy love and support of the family.
The Story behind the revolutionary product ” ABC Mobile Security ” has a lots of pains. This product helped me to solve all problems that I was struggling at that time to live. It was sold to Felix Tech Pty Ltd, Singapore. They were offer me to work at the company but my intention was became a great nepali entrepreneur so I rejected them.
2018, a single year I was able to develop 15+ apps inside the dark room which helps me to gain popularity among the Envato’s brilliant authors. The Tech invention is always at the top of my priority.
I’m a CEO and Founder at startup company called Pharid Dot Com Private Limited. I have managed to achieve over $15000 ( 15 lakhs NPR ) business transaction at first year of my company, raised over $9000 ( 9 Lakhs NPR ) Net Earning and was perceived as ‘successful’ (unfortunately things didn’t end up that way) in Envato Market.
It was very common for people to come up to me and ask what the magic was to make a successful app. I’d fudged my way through and somehow made something people wanted to purchase, but could I recreate it?
Hatching An Idea
I wanted to build an app in one night, not tell a single person about it and run some experiments on it to see if I could get it to some level of success. I thought maybe I could get a few dollars and make a couple of hundred bucks.
I wanted an idea that I had no domain advantage in at all, so what better for a Arabs and some countries whose government banned to browse something that people really addicted about so I developed eVPN app. The VPN was getting a lot of press (and buzz) at the time on sites like the New York Times and Hacker News, so I already had some customer validation around the idea.
There were a couple of key goals for the app:
- A lots of free VPN Servers
- A great User Interface with a lots of extra features.
Many other ideas and features ran through my head, including:
- iPhone support.
- Speed Tester.
- Phone Cooler.
- BATTERY SAVER.
- Social sharing.
Given a short time frame all this had to be cut (for now).
Sales of all Products
Sales were in steady over 2018, which can be seen even more easily with a cumulative graph.
Almost 60% of the profit was from the ARAB.
What’s Next For Me?
I am now concentrating on API Centralized Application like weather, movies, social network, ecommerce platform, games , which is something I’ve wanted to do. We have so many exciting features coming soon. The excitement of an early stage startup, the highs of adding and serving a new paying customer, talking to customers and building what they want is amazing. It’s pretty addictive.
One thing that Clients said to me on the calls and messages , “We probably wouldn’t have considered buying your app if we hadn’t read the story”.
“How important is it to create a story around your product?”
I think I’ll call that a ‘very important’.
